My TikTok algorithm saved my dating series. When I didn’t think there would be any new blind date related purchases left in my future, up pops a video on my FYP page from an indie woman owned bookstore in Austin, Texas. In said video, from Flutter Romance Bookstore, they were promoting a popular product in their TikTok shop. The Blind Date with a Bookstore.

My husband and I recently watched The Adventures of Buckarro Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. It’s a movie that has been on our Movie Watch List for quite some time but I don’t think I would have ever gotten around to watching it had my husband not put his foot down and said, we’re watching this movie tonight.

I am familiar with Sandy Toksvig thanks to the popular British panel show QI (and its availability on this side of the pond thanks to YouTube). Sandy has been host of the long running show for many years, having taken over the position from actor and comedian Stephen Fry. 

I knew Sandy to be an actor and comedian herself but had not been aware she was an accomplished author as well, of both fiction and nonfiction. I found this out after my husband and I watched a cooking show interview she did in which she promoted her (then) upcoming novel, Friends of Dorothy.

When it came to finding another “Blind Date with…” option, my choices were limited. However, when I came across this one during my search, it was definitely right up my alley. And as you have probably already gathered from the title of this post, I am of course talking about a coloring book.

Now you may be asking, what’s an Otaku? Merriam-Webster defines an Otaku as “a person having an intense or obsessive interest especially in the fields of anime and manga.” In high school, and many years beyond, I was very much a self-described Otaku.
