A Special Series from Mrs. Agent Palmer
When it came to finding another “Blind Date with…” option, my choices were limited. However, when I came across this one during my search, it was definitely right up my alley. And as you have probably already gathered from the title of this post, I am of course talking about a coloring book.
I love coloring books, they are as much a fun activity for adults as they are for children. It is relaxing and calming for the mind to interact with something that is physical but not linked to a screen as so many things are nowadays. You just need some markers, pencils, crayons or whatever your favorite coloring medium may be and the book itself.
I have quite a few existing coloring books, waiting to have their pages filled with color and at least one fully completed. I don’t have a ton of time to dedicate to coloring, otherwise there would probably be more completed ones, but there are plenty of other things vying for my time.

Since I started collecting coloring books, I have also collected coloring implements. I have an old and now incomplete set of Prismacolor pencils that I bought for a college art class. I also own a set of 20 assorted markers (Color Collection by Conté) and a set of 36 colored pencils (Prang) from a store I can’t remember (probably a Walmart or Target if I had to guess).
When my Conté markers started to run out, I bought a slightly more expensive assorted set of 30 markers from Amazon (Shuttle Art dual tip art markers), and lastly a set of acrylic brush markers from the TikTok shop. I purchased the GuangNa 36 color set of acrylic markers along with a coloring book, a long time before the Blind Date with a Coloring book. Did I mention I love coloring books? How about collecting them? Ok, moving on.
This is probably the most simplistic of all the blind dates I have purchased. I received three items and that was perfectly fine, given its very reasonable price tag. I received exactly what I expected. The shop description mentioned you would get a mystery coloring book and a random assortment of 5 markers. There was also a swatch page included so you could test out the new markers or any other ones before using them on the pages of the coloring book. The five Atopstar brand dual tip sketch markers are in the following colors: green, brown, red, blue, yellow.

Similar to all the blind dates, there were different themes to choose from for the mystery coloring book: Adult Variety, Dark & Twisted, Fantastical, Christian, Christmas, Christian Christmas, Childrens. I chose Adult Variety, expecting it not to be explicit in nature but rather a generic adult theme and I was correct.
I received the Happy Houseplants: Cheerful Greenery to Color and Display coloring book, a New York Times bestselling series from zendoodle coloring and illustrated by Deborah Muller. The pages can be easily torn out to make them perfect for framing as art work for your walls. The art style is very happy and cute with little smiling houseplants of all shapes and sizes. As far as mystery coloring books go, it’s definitely one that I could see myself picking out from a store.
The previous coloring book I had ordered from the TikTok shop was put aside, so I could start on this one. Partly to have something to show off for this post but also because I just really wanted to color in some adorable houseplants. I will get back to the other coloring book, which is of magical non-descript landscapes and then finish off the houseplants. It’s not like I don’t have two other coloring books also waiting to be filled with color. At least I will never be without something to color, at least for a little while.
