At some point in our lives, most of us choose to see the value of the villain. It may be temporary, it may be permanent, but villains have solid work ethics and often great vision. While you can quibble over their methods or morals, they get shit done.

Optimism. Noun. 1. Hopefulness and confidence about the future or the successful outcome of something. 2. Philosophy: the doctrine, especially as set forth by Leibniz, that this world is the best of all possible worlds.

The definition of Wizard has changed over the years, but many of us think of Gandalf, or the classic D&D Wizard, which is basically a younger Gandalf with no beard and a blue hat with stars on it. So I looked up “Wizard” on DeviantArt to see what would come up, and I wasn’t disappointed.

Since it’s first incarnation years ago, the Small Oddities series has morphed into a kind of small and occasional DeviantArt Exhibition.

Part of that transformation is because while I am adept at using words, I am not an artist in the visual sense, so it’s nice to celebrate the artists I come across that take similar inspirations from the pop culture that I enjoy and turn them into their own works of art in various forms.

Some of the most visually stunning pieces of art are landscapes. And as breathtaking as nature can be all on its own, the talents of some artists apply that beauty and that inspiration towards fictional landscapes. Some that we are faintly aware of and others that we know by heart.
