I used to have a massive box of fortune cookies. I “used” to. It’s gone now.

I didn’t eat them, but I did open them. You see, for a while, when I was single, I would order enough takeout for a few days, especially over a weekend when I planned on doing a project. And when you do that, you get enough fortune cookies for the four people that they think are going to be eating the goods.

The cookies piled up. This is why there was a box and why there is a Fortunes section to my site. A place where I could poke some fun or write a little logic into some fun or supposed uplifting rhetoric.

Well, I have more than a few fortunes in the backend of the website and even more just waiting to arrive on the site that I need a little push to get to writing them again.

So, in honor of cracking all those cookies, without the snide remarks or the poking fun or any of that, here are ten fortunes to uplift and perhaps even improve your day.

  1. There are only 3 colors, 10 digits and 7 notes; its what we do with them that’s important.
  2. Should have is a favorite phrase for those looking for excuses.
  3. Rest is a good thing, but boredom is its brother.
  4. Four basic premises of writing: clarity, brevity, simplicity, and humanity.
  5. Be curious always! For knowledge will not acquire you: you must acquire it.
  6. Arriving at one goal is the starting point to another.
  7. Attention is the mother of memory.
  8. An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.
  9. A new environment makes all the difference in the world.
  10. A great pleasure in life is doing what others say you can’t.

So there you have it… And for some snark…

Don’t forget to visit the actual Fortunes section of the website… You know, if you’re interested in it.
