My TikTok algorithm saved my dating series. When I didn’t think there would be any new blind date related purchases left in my future, up pops a video on my FYP page from an indie woman owned bookstore in Austin, Texas. In said video, from Flutter Romance Bookstore, they were promoting a popular product in their TikTok shop. The Blind Date with a Bookstore.
Take a blind date with a book and kick it up a notch. You are not just receiving a blind date with a book and some extra goodies thrown in, no no, you would be receiving a specially curated box of goodies from the bookstore itself. Flutter Romance describes it as a “Box Loaded with Books and Merch from Our Store in Various Genres…”
The Blind Date with a Bookstore offers you not just one book, but gives you the choice between picking one book of your chosen genre or two books, from nine different genres including historical, contemporary, dark, romantasy etc. Plus, you can choose to Go Big, this is a store in Texas afterall, or Regular for your box, the difference being additional goodies in the Go Big version.
I went with the regular version with two books and one of the LGBTQ+ genres, Male/Male. Received in the box was two blind dates expertly and colorfully wrapped, a pair of socks, a drink tumbler, a small canvas zippered bag, several stickers, two bookmarks, two differently colored highlighters, two sets of annotation sticky tabs and an extra novella thrown in on top. This is by far the most expensive of my blind dates, but did include free shipping. For everything you’re getting, plus getting to support indie authors, publishers, and a woman owned business, it is absolutely worth it, especially as a gift. I purchased this as a birthday gift for myself and it did not disappoint.
The Go Big box runs a bit more than the Regular, but again includes free shipping and the possibility of everything in the lesser option plus a few larger items as well, such as a candle and a T-shirt and maybe even a particularly spicy item.
If you check out their shop and both of those are just way outside of your price range, fear not, they also offer just a Blind Date with a Book option for a very reasonable price (and yes free shipping) that still has a wonderfully wrapped book arriving on your doorstep or in your mailbox, with tabs, highlighter, stickers and a bookmark.
I think of all the blind dates I have experienced thanks to the Tik Tok shop, this one may be my favorite in terms of presentation, quality and choices. I will definitely be ordering another blind date from Flutter Romance. They have captured my interest as their blind dates have captured my heart.
