A Special Series from Mrs. Agent Palmer

I will admit that I am addicted to TikTok. While I do not post my own videos, I do follow quite a few creators that I enjoy as well as a lot of friends and I will scroll through video after video as a form of stress relief much to the chagrin of my husband.

It was thanks to TikTok though that I discovered a product heavily advertised and with many different versions and copies called the Blind Date with a Book. For those of you familiar with TikTok, I am definitely making sure #booktok is in heavy rotation on my For You Page.

There are many versions of the Blind Date with a Book but not only that there are different versions of “Blind Dates with”. You can also find Blind Date Book Boxes which are a level up from just a Blind Date with a Book. While the book blind dates often come with little goodies, the boxes, as one might expect, are larger gift boxes. They will still come with a book but also supply you with a way to drink your favorite beverage, different items to pamper yourself like eye masks and chapstick, socks, perhaps even a tasty snack or two. They make ideal gifts and if you are ever surfing the TikTok shop leading up to the holidays, you will see them advertised heavily.

After a little while of repeated exposure to book blind dates, I finally bought one for myself. I didn’t read the book right away, in fact it went on the shelf and sat there for a while. In my defense, I was pregnant and still working full time, so it was not until the baby was born and I was on maternity leave that I finally got around to the book.

While I was reading it, I was discussing it with my husband and the fact that I had bought it as a Blind Date came up. From there, a short conversation with my husband led to the creation of this series, Married Woman Continues to Date. He came up with that title and honestly, while I initially thought it was a bit too misleading and “click bait-y” he assured me it was not, I really like it now.

Around that time I had also just bought a new game, which had a quirky dating theme and I found my next option for another blind date. My TikTok For You Page was fed a video of the Otaku Night In, a blind date with a manga, which came with tea and ramen, and as someone who loves ramen and had been out of the loop on manga for many many years, this option greatly appealed to me. I went straight to the TikTok shop next and started searching through the “Blind Date with…” options to see how many more different options I could get. There was the Blind Date with a Witchy Book, the Blind Date with a Tarot/Oracle Deck, Blind Date with a Cook Book, and Blind Date with a Coloring Book.

A couple of those didn’t really seem like my thing, my husband vetoed the cook book citing that we didn’t need another cook book as we barely used the ones we had, which was fair. So I ultimately went with the coloring book as another and possibly final “dating” option. I do love coloring books and coloring, and no, it is not just for children, coloring can be a very calming activity for adults looking for stress relief options.

However, if you’re reading this, and you know of any other blind date options in the TikTok shop or elsewhere that I may have missed, let me know and perhaps you can help this series continue.

For now though, look forward to my first foray into a Blind Date, the Blind Date with a Book!
