Geek Resolutions for 2013: An In-depth Report or How to be a Geek in 2013

Every year on Dec. 31, people start contemplating what they’ll strive for in the coming year.

I’ll quit smoking. I’ll lose weight. I’ll save money.

Yeah, sure you will, until the second week of January when you say, “Screw it,” and just wait to make the same resolutions next year.

Here is a list of the resolutions that most of us geeks have every year, only they aren’t resolutions, they’re goals!

A Movie Review of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey | The Return to Middle Earth

The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey

“In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit.” These were the lines I was waiting for as I sat in the theater to seeĀ The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. They weren’t the first lines of the movie as I had hoped but Peter Jackson and his writing crew had more to accomplish than just telling the story of The Hobbit.

Special Report: The Real Legend of Zelda: Quest of Chronology | Prelude

The Real Legend of Zelda

Special Report by Agent Parker

This may be a kind review when it’s all done.

Then again, it may not.

In between my kids’ and wife’s shifts of essential dominance over the television thanks to Netflix, I’ve taken it upon myself to play through – in order – the canon-friendly titles of the Zelda universe (no CDi or LCD games, for the love of Hylia) that I can get my hands on, either via existing console cartridges and discs or emulation.

Sports in Depth: The State of MLS as Beckham leaves as a Champion, Again.

David Beckham has gone out on top, again. He is leaving Major League Soccer in 2012 as a Champion with the LA Galaxy, as he did previously when he left Spanish La Liga with his Real Madrid taking the crown and before that when he left the Premier League’s Manchester United who also took the crown in his last season in 2003. The man knows how to go out on top.

And this season didn’t start with any inclination that he would be able to 3-peat his Title Crowned exits.

Defining “Inning”: A declassification of the word (Using Baseball terms in Football)

A Football Inning

Yesterday in the Ohio State v. Wisconsin football game, the head referee, in his explanation of overtime, described it as innings. It was one of the simplest and shortest explanations of overtime in college football I’ve ever witnessed.

We know that in college football’s overtime rules each team gets to play offense and defense at least once, so it is very easy to comprehend them as innings. But where does the word innings come from?
