Enter Night: A Biography of Metallica by Mick Wall is THE Definitive Story of Metallica

Metallica Enter Night by Mick Wall

Beginning with the heart-wrenching bus accident that claimed the life of Cliff Burton and then chronicling the band and its many players through the release of Death Magnetic, Enter Night: A Biography of Metallica by Mick Wall is brilliant.

Who better than Mick Wall, as classic a name in Rock journalism as there is, to chronicle the life and times of one of the biggest bands in the world.

Let the bounty hunter Samus Aran bring Nintendo gamers back!

Samus Aran - Metroid Prime

A friend recently drew my attention to the IGN podcast discussing whether or not a new Metroid game would help or hurt the Wii U.

It’s an intriguing arguement that, if nothing else, attempts to balance ongoing criticism of Nintendo’s lagging Wii U sales with praise over what perhaps is the greatest trilogy of first-person shooters and certainly the history of one of the first female video game protagonists.

My quick answer? It cannot hurt.
That, however, comes with qualifications.

Cinema fuels our Fascination with Titanic helping it trump all other Transportation Tragedies

RMS Titanic Ship

One hundred two years ago on April 15th, 1912, the RMS Titanic was on it’s maiden voyage. As we all know, it ended in tragedy at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean after striking an iceberg. It was one of the greatest transportation calamities of the 20th Century only rivaled by the Hindenburg disaster 25 years later.

In the 102 years since it’s sinking, the world has had a growing fascination with this ship, culminating in many documentaries and movies, perhaps most famously with James Cameron’s blockbuster “Titanic” in 1997, but that’s hardly the most accurate depiction.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a Marvel Masterpiece that ties in amazingly with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. [Full of Spoilers]

Captain America The Winter Soldier Shield

A few things up front. I am current with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I watched the episode before Captain America opened and I watched the one that essentially spoiled the movie a few days later. I had a spoiler free post about Captain America: The Winter Soldier all ready to go, when this week’s episode of S.H.I.E.L.D. spoiled it, so I threw it out and wrote this.

Captain America’s trailers months ago led all of us to believe that he was acting less like Captain America the superhero and more like Captain America, an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Twinkie and the Hostess Revisited: The Sweetest Comeback in the History of Ever

Twinkies the Sweetest Comeback in the History of Ever

Almost two years ago, I wrote a post titled “Twinkie and the Hostess” where I lamented the loss of the Twinkie. Well, two years later, the Twinkie is back from the dead and I feel it’s time to revisit how Twinkie’s resurrection took place. It’s quite the capitalistic underdog story dubbed, “The Sweetest Comeback in the History of Ever.”

The savior of the Twinkie is, the new owner and chief executive of new Hostess Brands, C. Dean Metropoulos. He’s done this before, turning struggling brands around, with Chef Boyardee and Bumble Bee tuna.
